For too long, the dominant narrative around nonspeaking autism has been shaped by outdated and limiting perspectives. Behavior-based models have ignored the reality that nonspeaking, minimally speaking or unreliably speaking (unable to be fully understood with speech) individuals are not lacking intelligence, but rather, they are navigating a movement disability that affects their ability to communicate reliably. As we push forward with our Innovative Pilot Program (IPP) and build our Learning Management System (LMS), I find myself at the intersection of advocacy, education, and transformation—learning, growing, and challenging the status quo every step of the way.
Our LMS is not just another online course platform. It is a revolutionary hub for providers, therapists, educators, and families who want to shift their understanding of nonspeaking autism. Traditional professional development often reinforces the same ineffective strategies, but our platform is designed to provide a new framework—one that acknowledges spelling and alternative communication as valid, essential methods for nonspeaking individuals. This LMS is built to empower those who interact with nonspeaking individuals daily to rethink their assumptions and practices in ways that create genuine, life-changing impact.
Building this LMS has been an education in itself. I have seen firsthand the resistance that comes with challenging deeply ingrained beliefs. Many professionals have been taught that autism-related challenges are rooted in intellectual deficits rather than movement. Shifting this paradigm requires not just new information but also a willingness to unlearn.
I’ve also learned that accessibility is key. Many educators and therapists want to do better, but they lack structured, high-quality training that explains the neuromotor challenges of autism and how to support reliable communication. Our LMS seeks to bridge this gap—providing practical, research-based strategies that are both accessible and applicable.
If you are a provider, therapist, or educator who works with autistic individuals, you owe it to yourself and your students or clients to explore our LMS. Here’s why:
This LMS is more than a resource—it’s a call to action. It is an invitation to rethink autism, challenge outdated models, and step into a world where nonspeaking individuals are recognized, respected, and fully included. If you’re ready to be part of that change, I invite you to explore what we’re building and join us in making a difference.
Stay tuned for more updates, and thank you for being part of this journey with me!
